History Of The German Shepherd
The German Shepherd was first discovered by Von Stephanitz who spotted them at a dog show and decided that this breed was the perfect standard for a working dog. He adopted one of these dogs and named them Horand and then created the Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde, the Society for the German Shepherd Dog.
Horand was the first breed standard for the German Shepherd breed and was bred alongside dogs with a similar appearance to give German Shepherd litters. They are thought to have first appeared in the United States in 1906 and were recognized by the AKC in 1908.

East German Ddr Working Lines
When the Berlin Wall was built there was no contact between East and West Germany which led to the East German Working Line being preserved.
They were bred to be guard dogs or to work for the police force or the military. They are intelligent and loyal dogs and have few temperament problems.
In comparison to their West German cousins they are less susceptible to health problems and few get hip dysplasia which is common in the West German line.
In East Germany there are even stricter breeding standards so if they have health problems like hip or elbow dysplasia they wont be allowed to breed.
Every puppy is also tested before being sold to make sure that there are no health problems.
These dogs have strong bones, large heads and broad shoulders. However, despite this they are smaller than their West German cousins. In addition they are usually a darker color and black isnt uncommon.
These dogs were bred to endure bad weather and to guard animals and property. They are used to long working days.
However, this doesnt mean that they wont be good family pets. They just need plenty of exercise and some challenges for their minds.

Can Mixes Be Hypoallergenic
Mixes cross or hybrids are the results of crossing two purebred dog breeds to get the best traits of those breeds.
Many such mixes were created by crossing the hypoallergenic Poodle with another breed. The popular Labradoodle is an example of such a crossing.
Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that a particular Labradoodle will inherit its poodle parents hypoallergenic traits; it can just as easily be as allergenic as a Labrador Retriever.

- Working Line German Shepherds have straight back and athletic type of figure, purely built to work all the time tirelessly. They have bigger heads & bigger bones.
- The Working Line German Shepherds dont need to be perfect. Their tail just not need to be in the right angulation.
- The Working Line GSDs as clearly evident from their name Working Line, always ready for work, work and work. They never get lazy, always active and desireful.
- In short we can say that Show Line German Shepherds excel in the shows whereas Work Line German Shepherds excel in work.

Solid Color German Shepherd Dog
The solid color German Shepherd dog is less common than the Saddle Back, but they shouldn’t have any other differentiating characteristics. Their health status and temperament should not be informed by color. It is possible to have powder blue colors in the dog’s coat, but it is unlikely this will be solid. While a GSD may be accepted in competition, they will likely be marked down for both this color and liver. However, for solid colors, you tend to only get solid black or solid white German Shepherds.
Solid black German Shepherds are accepted in competition. However, solid white German Shepherds are one of the few color variations which tend to be immediately disqualified. While black GSDs are due to a recessive gene, white GSDs are thanks to a dominant gene which exists in some litters. It should not be confused with albinism. Neither should it be confused with the Berger Blanc Suisse, also known as a White Swiss Shepherd. Perhaps partly due to their disqualification from competition, solid white Germans Shepherds are not very common.
American Show Lines German Shepherds
- The American Show Line German Shepherds are also called the AKC Lines GSDs. This type of German Shepherds are generally taller and longer. They come in different colors like black and tan saddle, solid black, saddle sable and solid white.
- The coloring of American Show Line German Shepherds coat is typically lighter. This type of German Shepherd are generally more laid-back. American Show Lines GSDs have lower drive, means they have less energy as compared to Working Line GSDs.
- Americans Show Line German Shepherds are good pets for family. These GSDs are very obedient, tracking and good at herding sheep as compared to Working Lines GSDs.
- American Show Line GSDs are active but have low strength, and because of this weakness these GSDs do not really best for top personal protection or law enforcement, but some of them do reasonably good and are widely used.

East German Ddr Working Line German Shepherds
East German DDR Working lines share many common characteristics with the West German lines. They share much of the same history as well. They were bred and tailored particularly for their extremely heightened desire to work, along with their quick ability to guard.
Because of their prey drive instinct, monitoring them around other animals and small children can help to avoid primal triggers. That doesnt mean that every dog in the line is as prey-driven. Some are incredibly docile and sweet, never hurting a fly. However, because of their working roots, it is something to watch for as a responsible owner.
They have incredible focus and endurance, suiting them perfectly for physically and mentally stimulating roles. Like their West brothers and sisters, East German DDRs have sable coloring, though most are darker and sometimes even black.
