My name is Michelle Brooks. I have had dogs all my life and German Shepherds most of that time. I have tried different breeds, but always come back to what I know and love. The German Shepherd Dog is the right fit for me. I breed large, old-fashioned, straight-backed, German Shepherds with a special focus on health and temperament.

I am a very small breeder, all my dogs live with me, in the house. They are first, and foremost, my beloved pets. In my litters, I concentrate on the things that matter most to me: Health and Temperament.

My dogs are all larger than the breed standard but with no compromise to their health. All my dogs are OFAd/Penn Hipped and DM tested . All my dogs are medium to low energy, making them easy to train and ideally suited for families. I do not breed: dogs that are hyper, dogs that show any signs of aggression, working dogs, high drive dogs, or dogs with excessive angulation.

Puppies are born and raised in my home! That means your puppy goes home with you already socialized with other dogs, with cats, and familiar with all the sights and sounds of a normal home. All puppies are also current on vaccinations and on a set deworming schedule.

History Of Kraftwerk K9

Established in 1987, founder Wayne Curry, grew Kraftwerk K9 from his love of training dogs. Due to his home being burglarized in 1986, Wayne decided to train dogs in tracking, obedience, and protection. His untrained Staffordshire Bullterrier was unable to protect his home and he then decided to obtain a Rottweiler for protection. After a year of training with national judges from Vancouver BC, Wayne took an untrained Rottweiler that he bought for 250 dollars and molded him into an award winning SchIII certified prized dog from the Pacific Northwest German Shepherd Working Dog Club. Wayne continued to train Rottweilers up until the early 90s where he purchased his first German Shepherd.

A Little About The German Shepherds

Our male and females are often purchased titled or started prospects from Europe after a thorough evaluation. We also use quality outside males for genetic and color diversity. More recently we are breeding, raising, training, then titling our own dogs. Helping us with training and titling is Frans Slaman of Zen Dog Training. Occasionally some of these older puppies or young green dogs are available. To approved females we offer the German Shepherd stud dog Hyro od Tyrusky, IPO3.

The Folsom Police K9 Unit Welcomes K9 Ramon

In March 2009, after the retirement of K9 Jerry, we welcomed K9 Ramon to the Folsom Police K9 Unit. Ramon is a three year old German Shepherd that came to us from Kreative Kennels in Turlock, CA. Ramon is an incredibly good natured dog, as well as being very social. Ramon has quickly become a part of our family.

Ramon took to training immediately. Ramon was patrol certified and hit the streets in April 2009. Ramon is trained in tracking, article/building/area searching and criminal apprehension. In September 2009 Ramon completed his training and certification for narcotics detection.

We are a small family operated kennel located in the Northern Piedmont area of North Carolina. Our dogs are selected from imported stock of West German, Czech Republic, DDR, and Dutch working lines of German Shepherd Dogs. All of our dogs are clear for hips/elbows and health evaluations. I only have dogs with excellent temperaments, good minds, strong character and nerves, nice structure and willing to please attitudes.

Puppies will all have plenty of drive for training and working, but not over the top prey-monster types. Some will have more drive than others and will be very suited to sport, police K9, and other working endeavors. While other puppies will be a bit more laid back and fit in well with families as companion dogs. Over these years Janette has evaluated many hundreds of puppies and has become very adept at pegging what an individual puppy will be like as an adult.

Pricing & Purchase Information

Grothaus puppies are priced at $1800. Individual litters are priced based upon the titles and accomplishments of the parents and the costs incurred to do the breeding. For pricing on a specific litter, please see the individual litter listing, or contact us.

A non-refundable deposit of $300 is required to reserve a puppy from a litter and will only be accepted from individuals who have already completed our interview and screening process. Fill out our PUPPY QUESTIONNAIRE

Once you have filled out a questionnaire and are approved for a Grothaus puppy, you may either put a deposit down, or be placed on our waiting list. A deposit is to hold the next puppy of the specific type you are looking for . The waiting list is just a list that I can refer to once the puppies are born to call and announce what we have available. If you are on the waiting list and we produced the puppy you are looking for, you can then put a deposit down to hold that puppy until it is ready to go home. Please note, we do keep an active waiting list before each breeding takes place. The best way to ensure your next puppy is from Grothaus, is to place a deposit early.

Grothaus Kennels claims Right of First Refusal on all pups we breed, for the lifetime of the dog. This means that if for any reason a buyer is unable or unwilling to keep their dog, we must be contacted before any action is taken and given the opportunity to take back the dog.
