The Link below shows my co- owned females they live with their families 95 % of the time and only come to my house occasionally for mommy duties and often stay with their families for puppies as well. I do not believe in haveing large numbers of dogs you simply can not give them the time they need. I do this full time and having more then 10 dogs here , even full time I barely have enough time for them all.. I belive this is the best way to expand and still do what is BEST for the dogs I choose these females below because they are what I am looking for to improve the breed. because they are with someone else does not mean they are any less of a dog in my eyes.

However, because of years of propaganda about how inept American lines are, he could not bring himself to purchase one of our puppies. He left our place muttering that these dogs cannot be this good. The poor man wanted one of our puppies so bad, but he could not let go of his incorrect biases. I also suspect that the man was afraid of the grief that he would receive from his schutzhund friends if he showed up with one of our American bred, German shepherd Dogs.
We had another misguided import breeder challenge our dogs and their temperaments. He asked us if he could come out and perform temperament tests on our puppies. We obliged him. He ran through all his tests with our puppies passing all of his tests. Perplexed and frustrated, the man picked up a large stainless steel bowl and threw it down as hard as he could on concrete in the middle of the six-week-old puppies. The puppies reacted as any normal living thing would by running a few steps from the loud noise and then turning to investigate. The man yelled with glee, Did you see that? They were scared your dogs have terrible temperaments. How foolish, the only animal including human beings that would not have reacted to that noise would have had to be deaf or comatose.

We highly recommend choosing a German Shepherd with a straight-back, especially if youre looking for a companion animal. Those with straight backs are less prone to health problems and have higher endurance. They fit closer to what the German Shepherd originally was intended to be. They make much better working dogs as well since they have higher endurance and are bred for more practical purposes.
Those with sloped-backs have few benefits over the straight-backed GSD. For the most part, these dogs are only around in the show-ring, where they have been known to win some competitions. However, this has led to lots of controversies, as their backs likely led to excess health problems and are not in line with the original breed.
In fact, the breed standard specifically speaks against sloped-back dogs, so it is odd that they are winning competitions at all.
Many kennel clubs are starting to stand against these sloped-back dogs, especially after the extensive media coverage that some of them have gotten. For this reason, we highly recommend sticking with straight-backed dogs on all occasions. In fact, we particularly recommend finding a breeder that produces working dogs, as these will have more practical traits and temperaments.

DNA screening helps us with the family history of health issues. This is something we as humans generally already know about ourselves, but with animals we rarely know what the grandparents, great grandparents, uncles, cousins etc have a health history of. Cancer genes can be detected, common eye issues, common blood issues, drug sensitivities, neurological issues, etc, etc, etc .All these possibilities are good to know of ahead of time if theyre in that bloodline or not, so I just dont understand why breeders would NOT take advantage of these tools! I want to know what those family health genes hold, so I use these tools of health screening! I am always looking for more research and more answers. As we all should be!
If were careful now, and use the modern tools we have today such as the DNA health screens, and if we dont dismiss information simply because its not popularYET, we could take big steps to clearing some of the issues that are in our pets., So just because something isnt popular or common YET, doesnt mean it isnt valuable information!
We can do so much more and have safer plans for the future of our dogs no matter what the breed may be if we just open our minds and use the tools that are available.
Hopefully someday we can eradicate the issues that have plagued every single breed for such a long time.

Why Do German Shepherds Backs Slope
GSD has evolved through the years which has resulted in many different bloodlines. From the original working line came the show line barely a few decades after the introduction of GSDs to the world.
Unfortunately, some influential breeders concentrated on the physical perfection of the GSDs. Their idea of a perfect GSD is a sloped back with bouncy movements and looked like floating in show rings. This resulted in sloping back and angulated hind legs.
According to some breeders and some GSD clubs, having sloped backs and angulated hind legs will give GSDs more force in their gait, allowing them to function better than straight backs. But some breeders went from sloped to extremely sloped backs which is way beyond the conformity of the show lines.

This is the yard where the adult German Shepherds can run free in small groups for longer periods of time requiring less supervision. Big dogs must have a securely fenced yard big enough for them to be able to break into a run so they can frolic in their exercise times.
Emily and Eliot take time daily with each dog to visit, sometimes on the favorite stump in the big yard which is an acre and a half safe and secure play place. These dogs our part of our family and prosper with the abundant attention given to them. The one-on-one time is essential as well as them having time as house dogs. For Emily to make good breeding decisions she must REALLY know the dogs, as stable temperament is a necessity in a family dog
