German Shepherd Vs Pitbull Exercise
Both the German Shepherd and the Pitbull are energetic dogs that require a good amount of exercise daily to stay fit and happy.
A good-sized daily walk and some outdoor play in a safely fenced area is usually enough for both breeds.
However, its important to be careful when they are still puppies, especially in the case of the German Shepherd.
While they are still developing, it is a good idea to avoid strenuous exercise, as it can damage their growing joints.
Keep this in mind, and keep their walks and play sessions shorter while they are still maturing.
What Is A Lab Shepherd Mix
The Lab Shepherd mix, also known as a Sheprador, is a cross between the two most popular dog breeds in America. These are the Labrador Retriever and the German Shepherd. A Labrador German Shepherd is a mixed or designer breed that results from the mating of a purebred German Shepherd Dog with a purebred Labrador Retriever.
Both Pitbulls And German Shepherds Were Trained To Fight
If both were trained to fight, a pitbull might still beat a German Shepherd, despite the German Shepherds advantages. This is because pitbulls have historically been bred to be fighting dogs.
German Shepherds, on the other hand, are generally not fighting dogs.
Even though you can train them to fight, if a pitbull was also trained to, the pitbull might be more aggressive, while the German Shepherd might give up much quicker.
However, a lot will depend on the level of training each dog received, all factors considered.

Ultimate Utility Dog Intelligence
Instinctive intelligence refers to the natural ability or innate skill that the dog was originally bred for. In the past, all dogs were bred for a specific role or purpose. In addition, few dogs were actually bred for solely companionship.
For example, Welsh Corgis were bred to herd cattle, sheep and other farm livestock. But without little to no human training or intervention, Corgis are able to instinctively round up and drive livestock in a desired direction. That is their instinctive intelligence.
Likewise, German Shepherds were bred to be the ultimate utility dogs. In other words, they could do it all as a multi-purpose working dog. That being said, their instinctively intelligence is in herding and livestock guarding.
German Shepherds did, and excelled, at almost everything. They were used as herding dogs, sheep guards, police dogs, therapy dogs and much more.
Gail Norris, a German Shepherd owner tells us,every night as soon as I got into bed and turned off the light, she would go through every room of the house, stopping to push aside the living room drapes with her head, and letting out a menacing growl. Once Sheba was satisfied that no one was lurking around, we settled down for the night.
This example shows Shebas instincts to guard and protect. No one taught him that. Rather, GSDs will have the instincts to guard and protect the family, which explains why theyre regarded as such a loyal breed. Its all part of their high instinctive intelligence.
How The Pit Bulls Performed
Overall, the two representatives of the Pit Bull dogs did fairly well. While the Staffordshire Bull Terrier ranked 94th out of 138 breeds, the American Staffordshire came in at 48th place.
These results placed the Staffordshire Bull Terrier in the average intelligent class. On the other hand, American Staffordshire Terriers scored in the above average intelligent class. Thats great but what does this actually mean for these dogs?
This meant that the American Staffordshire Terrier is able to learn a new command with just 15 to 25 repetitions. Furthermore, these Pit dogs will also obey a known command with a 70% or better success rate. Theyre obedient and quick learners!
Performing slightly worse, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier is capable of learning a new command with only 25 to 50 repetitions. In addition, they have a 50% or better success rate with obeying commands on the first try. Not too bad at all!
Overall, these Pit Bulls didnt do too bad. Theres nothing wrong with being average, and in the Americans case, they did better than average.

Is It Ok To Punish A Pit Bull
Punishing dogs for acting aggressively toward other dogs is entirely counterproductive, as your pit bull will begin to associate the punishment with the other dog, giving him even more reason for dislike and hostility. This is not to say that you should reward your dog for displaying aggressive behavior.
Are Parrots Smarter Than Dogs
Dogs and parrots are two of the most favorite pets across the world. Both of them are companionship pals that are much-loved by pet enthusiasts. The parrots are famous for their vivacity and interactive nature. Besides, dogs are the absolute cuddle buddies that fill your life with love and joy.

With proper care and nutrition, both the GSD and Pitbull can lead fairly long and healthy lives. However, they do have genetic predispositions you need to watch out for.

Dogs are incredibly intelligent animals. Not only can our dogs learn and react to a wealth of human language, they also seem to be able to understand our moods. But did you know that some breeds are smarter than others?
When it comes to deciding which dogs are smart and which are bottom of the class, it isn’t as simple as you’d think. Dog IQ tests are mostly based on a dog’s desire to get treats or toys, so the results are often coloured by how treat-driven the dog is.
Over hundreds and sometimes thousands of years, dogs have been bred to be specialists at doing certain jobs, so some breeds excel at certain skills more than others. For example, Bloodhounds can follow a week-old scent for over 100 miles, while Border Collies are incredibly talented when it comes to showing off their tricks and agility.
However, some dog breeds are particularly good at learning new things, including tricks and commands. So, we’ve put together a list of the top five smartest dog breeds from around the world.

What To Do If Your Dog Is Fighting
If your German Shepherd did get into a fight with a pitbull, try to break up the fight but make sure that you exercise appropriate caution.
Keep in mind that breaking up any dog fight, especially one involving a pitbull, can be very dangerous.
However, if you must do so, consider pulling back on the collar with enough force so that the dog must open its jaw to breathe.
You can also use the wheelbarrow method, in which two people pull back on their dogs and then turn in a circle to prevent the dogs from turning on them.
Here is a great video on how to break up a dog fight:
Other Potential Temperament Issues
Both breeds can be aloof with strangers, so they require careful socialization from a young age to ensure they grow up to be polite and friendly dogs.
The German Shepherd and the Pitbull may also take part in destructive behaviors when they are bored.
They can also tend to be very exuberant when young.
Its important to keep them properly exercised and mentally stimulated every day. Check out this article on good toys for dogs with strong jaws that like to chew.
The Pitbull has a strong mind of its own and will require a knowledgeable owner to keep them under control.
Since Pitbulls were used for dog fights, they are more likely than German Shepherds to display aggression toward other dogs.

Its an interactive bobble toy that requires your German Shepherd to tilt it a certain way to release his favorite treats. It comes with 2 chambers so you can put your dogs meal and treats inside. A dog puzzle that my dogs absolutely love is the Nina Ottosson Dog Puzzle. There are 3 variations, but I went with the Hide n Slide. Its a challenging puzzle where your German Shepherd needs to move the sliders to reach his favorite treats. Put in a few of his favorites and hell be all over it! I suggest you take a look at Amazon here.
There are a ton of fantastic puzzles and toys thatll help with your German Shepherds mental stimulation. If not what I recommended, I suggest you get them something.
Socialize As Much As Possible
Studies have shown that socialization is much more effective when its done early and often. You can start introducing your pit bull to other dogs and new situations when theyre just a few months old.
Take good care to expose your young pit bull to new situations such as parks, new people, or walks in busy areas. While you shouldnt overwhelm them, its important that they know how to appropriately handle new things.
Likewise, introduce them to other dogs! Doing this at a young age will help your pit bull learn the appropriate doggy manners when it comes to play and sharing.
Socializing frequently will help the transition to a second dog go much more smoothly.

Interested in the German Shepherd vs Pitbull debate? There are some key differences between these two impressive breeds!
GSDs have a long working history, and as a result they are often easier to train. But, due to an insalubrious previous career as fighting dogs, many regions still prohibit Pitbulls.
Plus, the GSDs long coat needs more upkeep than any of the Pitbull types.
But what other factors should you consider when choosing between these two breeds?
Pit Bull Or German Shepherd Which Do You Choose
From a popularity viewpoint, the German Shepherd is the peoples choice. He ranks at number 2 out of 197 dog breeds in the American Kennel Clubs most popular dogs in the United States. The Pit Bull doesnt rank anywhere because there is no such dog breed as a Pit Bull. Its a term that describes the five distinct breeds, the American Pit Bull Terrier , the American Bulldog, The American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bully, and The Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
The only one of these four breeds recognized by the AKC is the American Staffordshire Terrier, and he is number 85 on the most popular list. For this comparison guide between the Pit Bull and German Shepherd, we will talk about the American Pit Bull Terrier because its the dog most people immediately think about when the term Pit Bull is spoken.
Even though the German Shepherd is so high on the AKC list, the breed is not without controversy as there is with the Pit Bull, which makes both dogs incredibly fascinating to discuss and compare.
