One Of The Most Important Aspects Of Finding A German Shepherd Rescue For Your Puppy Is That It Is Not A Purebred Dog

There are purebred German Shepherds out there, but many people who have these dogs dont really want to raise them as part of a family. It just doesnt work that way in their lives. The best thing for you to do when searching for a German Shepherd rescue is to look for rescue groups that are in the immediate geographical area where you live.

There are some cities and towns in Upstate New York that have more German Shepherd rescues per capita than anywhere else in the entire state.

You should also look for rescue groups that have a temperament evaluation for the dogs they have saved. The purpose of this is to ensure that the dog will match the personality characteristics you are trying to find. If the dog has bad temperament traits, then it is probably going to be difficult to get it to fit into your home.

German Shepherds Thrive In New York City

The German Shepherd is a large dog perfect for a large city like New York. These big, athletic pups are known for their abilities as guard and service dogs, and also for their energetic spirit and loyalty to their owner. Originally bred as a guard dog for sheep, the German Shepherd is highly intelligent, trainable, and active.

The German Shepherd became one of the most adopted dogs in America after gaining fame in popular culture through movies like Rin Tin Tin. This contributed to the German Shepherd becoming a favorite family dog, and they remain so to this day. Feel free to check out the German Shepherds many qualities and breed information.

One things for sure, when you walk New Yorks blocks with your German Shepherd, you will find plenty of activities for you and your dog to enjoy. For example, the 72nd Street Dog Run is a large, fenced-in, off-leash area for your active German Shepherd. It even offers a separate space for big dogs like the German Shepherd to socialize with other larger pups.

If your German Shepherd doesnt get enough out of just running, check out Chelsea Waterside Dog Park on 23rd and 11th avenue. Here, your German Shepherd can play with others and take a dip in the Hudson River to cool off on a hot day.

New York is the ideal home for a rough-and-tumble breed like the German Shepherd, so dont be afraid to make a German Shepherd a new part of your family!

New Beginnings Shepherd Rescue is a national 501c3 charitable German Shepherd Rescue based in South Carolina

NBSR was established in 2004 in honor of our founder’s service dog who was such a wonderful German Shepherd that he inspired her

to do something to give back to this amazing breed…which led to the birth of New Beginnings Shepherd Rescue

We celebrated our 18th anniversary this year! This is quite an accomplishment for a breed specific rescue.

We could not have done it without the help of likeminded animal lovers like yourself.

Although we wish that we were not needed to save dogs from high kill shelters across the country, we strive to continue in our mission to

save our beloved breed wherever they may find themselves in harms way.

Since NBSR is now mostly foster based, we don’t have a main phone number, the one that you find on the internet is not for the rescue, please EMAIL us at

and one of our wonderful volunteers will get back to you as quickly as possible

How Do I Pick A Good Rescue German Shepherd

You might ask yourself what kind of German Shepherd you should adopt and rehome. You can look for outgoing dogs. You can tell that by observing their body language when you first meet.

If the dogs gesture is warm and inviting, you might want to choose that because they are confident and trusting. However, if you are also not down to unlimited patience, you can avoid a shy German Shepherd.

These dogs can be a little bit of work because they are afraid and run away from you. If you are outgoing and are a very hands-on person, you might not enjoy your German Shepherd because of its shyness.

However, this is only a guide, and if the dogs personality is not a big deal for you, you can pick any dog you want. Dogs can be trained and can also be flexible like some people are. If you love a challenge, you can pick any dog you want.

Many Great Organizations Can Help You Get Your German Shepherd Back To Good Health And Happy Life

The German Shepherd rescue upstate NY website is one of them. They have a very good database for you to check on if you are looking for a dog of any kind. There is information on how to go about getting a dog and all the necessary information to get the dog adopted.

The Rescue can be contacted for information on when they will hold an open house to let the public know that they have a new German Shepherd in their shelter or if there are German Shepherds that need homes immediately. People who have German Shepherds should feel comfortable contacting them. They should feel like the dog belongs to someone they can talk to.

If you would like to adopt a German Shepherd, there is no limit to the number of times you can call them. If you want more than one, just contact them at once.

German Shepherd rescue groups have been assisting German Shepherd rescues for many years but it is only in the last twenty or so years that they have started assisting people to adopt German Shepherds all over the United States.

The reason is that German Shepherd rescue groups have a limited amount of funds, and their expenses are spiraling out of control because of the rising number of German Shepherd dogs being adopted every year. This means that the dogs cannot continue to take on jobs or provide for their own care if they need some financial help.

If you are thinking about adopting a German Shepherd, you may be wondering what your options are. You can ask other German Shepherd owners where they got their dogs from, or you can just go to a shelter or an animal shelter.

Many shelters have German Shepherd mixes there that wasnt rescued. These dogs were either put up for adoption or were sickly, and the staff chose to let them go because they did not qualify for rescue. This is not the case with all shelters.

There Are Also Rescue Groups That You Can Approach Directly

If you know somebody who works at a shelter, then you can ask if they are familiar with any dogs that are available for adoption. Chances are if they know any of the dog breeds, they probably have information on where you can find one that is right for you.

If you dont know anyone who knows of any good places to adopt German Shepherds, then you can try the Internet. Many German Shepherd rescue groups have Web sites where they describe their dogs and offer profiles of each dog.

Many of them also have a Contact Us page where you can contact the group to make sure that you are getting a dog of the right age and that the person who makes the decisions are friendly and willing to give you any information you might need.

How Much Does It Cost To Adopt A German Shepherd In New York

German Shepherds are very gentle dogs and are much known for their protective traits. Unfortunately, last 2018, there was a new adoption fee.

Adopting a German Shepherd in New York would now cost around 300 dollars to 350 dollars. The cost would cover the German Shepherd shelters medical expenses to keep them vaccinated and healthy.

These German Shepherds are provided with consistent medical care. Ever since the German Shepherd gets rescued, they will closely be monitored and have the privilege of being spayed and neutered. Care also includes all kinds of shots for dogs.

But On The Other Hand If You Are Looking For A Purebred Puppy Then Temperament Wont Be A Factor In The Decision

Some dogs have absolutely no temperament or personality. These are the dogs you dont want to get if you dont know what you are looking for.

If you are not sure what kind of dog you want, you can look for a German Shepherd rescue group that specializes in one breed or another. Most of the larger ones will have specific breeds listed and will probably have pictures of dogs that are close to what you want.

It is always easier to choose a German Shepherd rescue group that specializes in one dog breed than it is to choose one that has mixed. If you find a rescue group that specializes in German Shepherds, chances are that there will be more than one breed that will be perfect for you.

Why Should You Adopt

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

Choosing A Good German Shepherd Rescue

If you are trying to adopt a rescued German Shepherd from German Shepherd shelters, you might be confused about what you should consider.

If you ask people to like your friends and family, they might have different opinions that confuse you. But there is not so much to consider.

The fact that you chose to adopt a rescued German Shepherd rather than buying one is already one act of kindness. You might already know that there are so many rescued German Shepherds in the world and only a few German Shepherd shelters.

If you adopt one, you are already saving a dogs life. However, if you want a good rescue, you should consider the German Shepherds temperament.

If the German Shepherd comes at you with no hesitations and no aggressiveness, you would know that it was a good rescue. If the German Shepherd is warm and inviting on your first encounter, it is already a good rescue because there are no signs of trauma or aggression.

German Shepherd Up For Adoption In Hamptons After He Was Found ’emaciated And Afraid’

A German shepherd with a face thats just too cute is hoping to be taken into a good home.

Six-year-old Fritz is currently available for adoption at the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons in New York.

Fritz first showed up at ARF from a local animal control office looking “emaciated and afraid,” according to the rescue group.

The rescue told Fox News Digital that it was clear the scared pup needed some TLC.

The gorgeous German shepherd is described as “very intelligent” and loves to show off his knowledge of obedience commands.

“A few long walks and lots of treats all it would take to make him your loyal and loving companion,” the group also said.

In terms of the best home for Fritz, the rescue said its preferred that he’s brought into a home with children who are 12 years or older.

Fritz is also not very cat friendly and he would fare better in a single-dog home, according to the background description of him on ARFs website.

“Fritz wants to be your one and only pet, and he has plenty of love to go around,” ARF said.

German shepherds are extremely affectionate with family, according to the American Kennel Club.
