German Shepherd Rescue Of The Rockies

Aggressive German Shepherd attacks trainer during aggressive behavior training

This German Shepherd Rescue in Colorado is located in Fort Morgan, CO. As stated on their website, they do not have a shelter and, instead, house the dogs in foster homes while a new home is being looked for. This rescue strives to make a difference in the lives of abandoned, neglected, abused and homeless German Shepherds by finding new families and new homes for them. To adopt a dog from them, you must be 25 years old or older and reside in Colorado. As part of the adoption process, you will need to fill in an application and go through an interview as well as a home inspection. The Rescue will contact your references and your vet as well. The adoption fee for one of their dogs is $350.

If you are willing to help out, this Rescue is looking for volunteers, particularly foster homes. This can be a great way to learn more about the breed before you plunge into adopting a German Shepherd. Apart from becoming a foster parent, you can help by donating funds, volunteering at events, helping with dog transportation and in a few other ways.

If you are a German Shepherd owner and found yourself in a situation where you are unable to continue taking good care of your dog, you may also contact this Rescue to speak about surrendering your dog.

All donations go straight to the Rescue you are donating to. This website does not collect any donations.

Two Very Different Studies On Pet Safety

Pawsafe surprisingly ranks the state as the 8th least pet-friendly in the country. The study evaluates several factors, including animal cruelty laws, pet-friendly accommodations, and the number of dog parks and hiking trails. While this ranking is low, there are few areas where the state excels. Pawsafe ranked Colorado 3rd for animal welfare laws and 4th for available pet services.

Safewise conducted a similar study and came to a much different conclusion. In their analysis, they found Colorado to be the 14th most pet-friendly state. Safewise notes that only 25% of rentals in Colorado are pet-friendly, which may be why Pawsafe ranked Colorado so low.

Protect Your Family

Apex German Shepherd Dog

Apex German Shepherd is a German Shepherd kennel that is located in Colorado.

This breeder is a AKC registered breeder that raises their pups as members of the family. They sell Von Felisgberg puppies, all of which are produced from the litters of a service dog.

Unlike some dog breeders, they have a trainer that works with their puppies, as well as a canine specialist. They have over seven years of experience raising these animals as service dogs.

If you are on the lookout for a protection dog, look no further!

Because they focus on training their German Shepherds as service dogs, they have two different programs in order to train them. One of them is a dog training protection program, whereas another focuses on service training.

As expected, the protection program trains dogs to be more bold and helps build your future pups confidence, enhancing its general health throughout the course.

The service program teaches dogs how to act in accordance with different environments, which makes the pups more emotionally intelligent, for the lack of a better term.

In addition to these two programs, all dogs can receive obedience training as well.

Phase : The Reinforcement Phase ~ 6

During phase two, the goal is to begin phasing out your training aid . In phase one, we use the dog training collar on a regular basis to regain attention and maintain our rules. Now in phase two we begin to reduce our dependence on the dog training collar and introduce consistency via variable reinforcement. You may or may not need your dog training collar, but we want to teach the dog that you are still in control even if the perception of the dog is that you are not. This phase will last between 6 12 weeks on average, and will require you to stick with phase two for longer than average. Its also not uncommon as dogs mature and age to have to revert back into phase one training again for several weeks depending on how your dogs performance and behavior is. When your dog is capable of performing commands without the need for reinforcement for approximately 6 weeks, then your dog is very likely to be reliable without their training aid present. We are ultimately looking to have your dog learn how to filter our distractions entirely. When this is achieved, your dog is much less likely to act out in an unwanted manner because of distractions.
