A Little About The German Shepherds
Our male and females are often purchased titled or started prospects from Europe after a thorough evaluation. We also use quality outside males for genetic and color diversity. More recently we are breeding, raising, training, then titling our own dogs. Helping us with training and titling is Frans Slaman of Zen Dog Training. Occasionally some of these older puppies or young green dogs are available. To approved females we offer the German Shepherd stud dog Hyro od Tyrusky, IPO3.
Our goal is to be able to offer your family the opportunity to welcome into your home your new best friend and family protector.

Physical Disability Service Dogs
These dogs help people that are physically handicapped to live a more normal life. They provide assistance in getting around, picking up objects, turning off lights, and many other everyday tasks that may be difficult or impossible for their owner.
German Shepherds are particularly well-suited for this type of work. Because they are intelligent, they can learn to do a wide variety of tasks, and they are also large enough to help support their owners physically.
Emotional Support Dog Vs Psychiatric Service Dog: Whats The Difference
While both emotional support dogs and psychiatric service dogs provide emotional and mental support to their owner, only one is a recognized service animal, and thats a psychiatric service dog. They undergo specialized training and have federally protected rights. They can accompany their owner anywhere, such as businesses, schools, non-pet friendly housing, on airplanes, etc. To get a psychiatric service dog, you must be diagnosed with a disability and prescribed a service dog who undergoes vigorous training to support you.
An emotional support dog only requires a letter of recommendation from a doctor. They are simply a pet who offers mental and emotional benefits to their owner. They cant accompany their owners in public places, on flights, etc.
It is very important to recognize the difference between these two types of dogs. Service dogs wear vests to set themselves apart, as they have a very important job and should be recognized as working dogs. Pretending a dog is a service dog is actually illegal in 20+ states and is very damaging to service dogs reputations.

A Public Facilities And Accommodations
Titles II and III of the ADA makes it clear that service animals are allowed in public facilities and accommodations. A service animal must be allowed to accompany the handler to any place in the building or facility where members of the public, program participants, customers, or clients are allowed. Even if the business or public program has a no pets policy, it may not deny entry to a person with a service animal. Service animals are not pets. So, although a no pets policy is perfectly legal, it does not allow a business to exclude service animals.
When a person with a service animal enters a public facility or place of public accommodation, the person cannot be asked about the nature or extent of his disability. Only two questions may be asked:
1. Is the animal required because of a disability?
2. What work or task has the animal been trained to perform?
These questions should not be asked, however, if the animals service tasks are obvious. For example, the questions may not be asked if the dog is observed guiding an individual who is blind or has low vision, pulling a persons wheelchair, or providing assistance with stability or balance to an individual with an observable mobility disability.4
A public accommodation or facility is not allowed to ask for documentation or proof that the animal has been certified, trained, or licensed as a service animal. Local laws that prohibit specific breeds of dogs do not apply to service animals.
Where Can I Adopt A German Shepherd Service Dog
You can adopt a shepherd service dog from breeders specializing in training service dogs. Often, these dogs begin their training from a young age. Find out which adoption services specialize in the type of support you need. If you plan to train the dog yourself, look for reputable breeders that focus on mental and physical traits, require an application, allow you to see their facility or home, and understand German shepherds well.

Mobility Support Service Dogs
People with cerebral palsy and other similar mobility disorders may need some extra help getting around. Service dogs help provide a counterbalance for them. They also perform tasks like opening and closing doors.
A 55-pound German Shepherd is tall and strong enough to provide this service to people up to 130 pounds. For anyone larger than that, youll need to find a heavier German Shepherd or choose a larger breed such as a Newfoundland or a St. Bernard.
Its also important that these dogs not have any hip dysplasia or other problems that would prevent them from doing their job. Mobility support dogs dont typically begin working until at least 2 years of age to ensure that their bones and joints have finished forming properly.
The Most Important Requirement For All Of The Canines I Offer For Sale Is That They Possess Excellent Health And An Appropriate Temperament For Their Future As A Pet Or Working Dog
From this foundation I develop the dog’s workability and versatility for the tasks they will be appointed to. German Shepherd Dogs and Puppies are available from my breeding program. I have 1 litter per year typically in spring or summer. Other breeds are acquired from trusted breeder’s programs in the USA. Training programs are limited in size to ensure each dog receives the dedication and personal attention necessary to guarantee a high level of training and continued reliability. Consistent one-on-one training and individualized conditioning is paramount to any dogs’ success.

Vi Reaction/response Of Others
Allergies and fear of dogs are not valid reasons for denying access or refusing service to people using service animals. If employees, fellow travelers, or customers are afraid of service animals, a solution may be to allow enough space for that person to avoid getting close to the service animal.
Most allergies to animals are caused by direct contact with the animal. A separated space might be adequate to avoid allergic reactions.
If a person is at risk of a significant allergic reaction to an animal, it is the responsibility of the business or government entity to find a way to accommodate both the individual using the service animal and the individual with the allergy.
Are German Shepherds Suitable For Psychiatric Assistance
As mentioned, doctors and psychiatrists are focusing on how service dogs can help individuals suffering from mental health issues.
It is still a relatively new field, and dogs have been found to help with specific disorders.
Since research is still being conducted in this area, such service dogs aren’t all that common.
In some circumstances, people may have to face a few more barriers before they can be approved for a service dog for their mental health.
Despite this hesitance, the dogs have been found to help. They can reduce symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, PTSD, and panic attacks.
As with physical disabilities, psychiatric assistance pups are trained to perform tasks according to their owner’s diagnosis.
So, what exactly is it that these service dogs are supposed to do? And are German Shepherds suitable for such tasks?
Well, one of their main tasks is to provide their owners with tactile stimulation and reduce anxiety.
The dogs can also be trained to nudge or paw their human when they have disassociated.
Or when they need to be brought back to the present. They can also help to reduce undesirable or harmful behaviors.
And for individuals suffering from PTSD or anxiety, their service dogs can act as a barrier they will prevent other individuals from making unwanted contact.
As this is still a somewhat new area for service dogs, there are some mixed opinions about how German Shepherds will fare with psychiatric assistance.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
I took my 2 year old dog Cider to Fine Line Family K-9 and I could not be happier with the results! I have way more control over my dog than I have ever had before. She is still her same goofy self, but obedient. I was starting to feel so stressed out and hopeless when it came to training my dog and having her listen to me and Fine Line Family K-9 solved all of those problems. They also make sure your fur baby is having a great time while they are away! Cider was always jumping in the pool and playing with the other dogs! I highly recommend Fine Line Family K-9!

We recently purchased an adult protection dog from them. A Belgian Malinois. I am a green handler of a dog of this caliber. Steve drove what had to be 12 hours one way to hand deliver the dog and spent half a day working with me and educating me on properly handling the dog. Steve has been great at answering my questions after the sale.

What Is A Service Dog Vest And How Do I Get One
A certified service dog has gone through proper training and can, therefore, wear a vest that identifies them as such. This vest allows them to have access to nearly anywhere their human can go, even places like restaurants or plain cabin where animals are not normally allowed.
However, some people, who dont own a service dog, want to take their pet dog with them everywhere, too. So, they purchase a service dog vest for them and take them wherever they want. This is illegal and can cause some huge problems.
First and foremost, a dog that is not legitimately trained as a service dog could be a danger to other people or animals. Secondly, when a fake service dog misbehaves badly, it can cause store owners to ban all animals from their businesses, including legitimate service dogs.
Source: www.af.mil
As important as it is to not put a vest on a dog that isnt a service dog, you also need to identify a service dog as such. Putting your dogs vest on signals to them its time to work and lets others know the dog is working.
A working dog needs to stay focused. When your dog is wearing their vest, avoid:
- Allowing other people to pet, hug, or otherwise touch the dog
- Dogs or other animals interacting with the dog
- Encouraging the dog to play
It may be difficult, but youll need to be prepared to ask other people to not distract your dog while theyre wearing their vest. This will allow your service dog to do their job, and could even save your life.

A Lot Of People Say German Shepherds Are The Best Service Dogs
However, the point of this website is you dont need a German Shepherd. I can train other breeds just as well.
For example, a Chihuahua can be trained to be just as fabulously off-leash obedient as any German Shepherd, or just as aggressive.
Chihuahuas are very protective and can be trained to bite intruders too. Not that many people are afraid of Chihuahuas though.
Both Pit Bulls and Tibetan Mastiffs like Belle and Mister Puppy, on the left, can be very protective too, but with a German Shepherd it is easier to go from being aggressive to not aggressive.
For example, a German Shepherd police dog can drag a suspect out of an attic, then an hour later go to an elementary school for a show-and-tell. On the contrary, a Pit Bull once made aggressive generally will be aggressive to most everyone except close family members or friends.
A Tibetan Mastiff owner would not want to take their aggressive dog to an elementary school in a million years.
A lot of people hire me because they wanted a dog that was protective, but they failed to train their dog and instead their dog is aggressive to everyone, including friends, family members and neighbors.
The problem is that most peoples friends, family members and neighbors are not the ones robbing their house. That, and aggressive dogs are not fun to be around.
A lot of my clients friends quit coming over to their houses a long time ago because their dogs make people worry that they are going to get bit.
