German Shepherd Rescues In Wisconsin

Fetch Foster And Rescue

Rettungs-Haus Shepherds Inc. German Shepherds Rescue Kenosha, WI

Unlike other rescue centers on this list, Fetch Foster and Rescue has no dog kennels or facilities where they can put their dogs. They rely completely on foster homes and volunteers that will provide a temporary home for their GSDs in need.

But, not only are GSDs a part of their focus group. Other dogs, no matter if theyre three-month-olds or even seniors, can be saved and fetched, as the team likes to say.

If you live in the area and want to adopt or help out, I urge you to check out the Fetch Foster and Rescue organization. A rescue organization doesnt have to have a kennel or a building to be reliable. Trust me these guys know what theyre doing theyre only lacking funds.

In case you dont realize it, fostering and rescuing dogs in general is an expensive hobby. Taking care of a dogs health requirements upon rescue may even cost up to $500! Thats a lot of cash for a nonprofit organization hence, why contributions and donations are so valuable and welcome.

Even if you cant help too much or adopt a pup, you can still buy some dog toys or leashes for walkies since they go through them fast. Any help is good help, and those little paws will be eternally grateful.

Mit Liebe German Shepherd Dog Rescue

Mit Liebe German Shepherd Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1998 by Anita Delzer, who was always drawn to the German Shepherd breed. Taking on the founders motto, the organization aims to save one, until there are none.

Mit Liebe German Shepherd Dog rescue takes in abused or abandoned German Shepherds. It rehabilitates and eventually rehomes the German Shepherds with loving individuals and families with help from volunteers and fosters. When rescued dogs arrive at Mit Liebe German Shepherd Rescue, they are evaluated by certified vets, treated for any diseases, vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered.

You can also apply to be a foster home with Mit Liebes German Shepherd Dog Rescue. This opportunity is great if you love dogs, and your help will go a long way in rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming German Shepherds. As a foster, youll provide temporary accommodation for the rescued German Shepherds and evaluate the dogs under your care.

Evaluating the dogs temperament and general behavior would help match them to the right adopters. To be a foster, you have to complete an application. If youd like to adopt a German Shepherd from the organization, youll have to complete an application on their site.

Why Should You Adopt

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you’ll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.

What People Are Saying

“Rettungs-Haus is an inspiration to animal rescues and animal lovers everywhere and inspired me to get into rescue more deeply.

Rettungs-Haus is dedicated to the shepherd breed and is by far the best for miles around. Their care and compassion for animals are balanced with the strong leadership and experience with training and rehabilitation.

– Chris R

CEO Doobert.com

“LEARN FROM THE BEST!” I started my journey with GSDs over 30 years ago, and thought I knew about them. It wasnt until I became affiliated with Rettungs-Haus. I realized how little I did know. The love and passion for the breed is unrivaled. I had read about Rettungs-Haus online and felt this was something I wanted to be part of.

I was not disappointed! At this point I knew I wanted one of Rettungs-Haus GSDs.

– Chris S

Something Ive taken from my experience with Rettungs-Haus training is that every owner and their dog have their own set of issues. They could have aggression, fear, separation anxiety, intense energy, or maybe even no issues at all. Rettungs-Haus Shepherds takes you, your dog, and your issues just as you are and helps to solve those important to you.

They teach you how to be confident, clear, and consistent with your training.

Choosing A Good German Shepherd Rescue

If you are trying to adopt a rescued German Shepherd from German Shepherd shelters, you might be confused about what you should consider.

If you ask people to like your friends and family, they might have different opinions that confuse you. But there is not so much to consider.

The fact that you chose to adopt a rescued German Shepherd rather than buying one is already one act of kindness. You might already know that there are so many rescued German Shepherds in the world and only a few German Shepherd shelters.

If you adopt one, you are already saving a dogs life. However, if you want a good rescue, you should consider the German Shepherds temperament.

If the German Shepherd comes at you with no hesitations and no aggressiveness, you would know that it was a good rescue. If the German Shepherd is warm and inviting on your first encounter, it is already a good rescue because there are no signs of trauma or aggression.

About Alex Vicente

Dog Lover, Founder & Chief Editor at Paws Insider

Ive been rescuing dogs since a very early age. I got my first dog when I was 9 years old and I remember how he, out of a litter of 6 puppies, started running towards me. Hed just chosen me. Ever since then, my love for dogs only grows stronger and I want whats best for them. My mission is to let our readers know about the best products in the market for our best friends, as well as providing guides and tips on how we can take better care of them.

How Do I Pick A Good Rescue German Shepherd

Stray German Shepherd Was Crying Nonstop Until She Was Rescued | The Dodo

You might ask yourself what kind of German Shepherd you should adopt and rehome. You can look for outgoing dogs. You can tell that by observing their body language when you first meet.

If the dogs gesture is warm and inviting, you might want to choose that because they are confident and trusting. However, if you are also not down to unlimited patience, you can avoid a shy German Shepherd.

These dogs can be a little bit of work because they are afraid and run away from you. If you are outgoing and are a very hands-on person, you might not enjoy your German Shepherd because of its shyness.

However, this is only a guide, and if the dogs personality is not a big deal for you, you can pick any dog you want. Dogs can be trained and can also be flexible like some people are. If you love a challenge, you can pick any dog you want.

Humane Societies & Animal Shelters

Dont forget to check your local humane societies and animal shelters. They get shepherds at their facilities, too. Remember, being turned over to a shelter is part of how I got my Forever Home. I got lucky not all of them from the shelters get to go to rescues. Some shelters keep lists of people who are looking for a certain kind of dog and when they get a dog in that matches, they will call the people on the list.

Mom says there are way to many shelters and humane societies in Wisconsin for us to put a whole list of them here. But she says you can find them by going to a place called and put in words like humane society along with the city name and you will find lots of them that way and that another place to look for your special dog is called Petfinder.

White Paws Germanshepherd Rescue Mission

Our mission is to help ensure the welfare of all German Shepherd Dogs by rehabilitating and placing unwanted and abandoned German Shepherd Dogs from shelters and similar situations into new homes and providing education and guidance to new owners.

Since 2004, weve saved approximately 150-175 dogs a year from being put to sleep in shelters, most stray or abandoned by owners. We take in dogs found in dumping grounds, owner surrenders, shelters and many other bad circumstances from 22 states in the Continental U.S. We rescue young, old, and medically needy dogs.

White Paws German Shepherd Rescue is a licensed non-profit 501c3 organization founded by a small group of people dedicated to the German Shepherd Dog breed. All monies collected are put toward helping the dogs to find a better life.

We conduct home visits, coordinate training, transport dogs to and from the veterinary office, conduct fund-raisers and bring dogs to select locations so they can meet the public, and the public can meet them to see what a wonderful companion they truly are. We are working to educate the public about the German Shepherd Dog breed and also the importance of spaying/neutering to help keep the pet population under control.

What We Aim To Solve

We take in many special needs and medical needs dogs, as well as hospice senior dogs. These are very expensive to maintain as we do not put a dog down for any reason other than humane euthanization when their quality of life is very diminished i.e. pain, etc. In order to continue pulling senior and special needs and elderly dogs from shelters, we need more funding. All dogs are placed in foster homes. We do not board dogs in kennels.

Arf German Shepherd Rescue Lodi

Theres nothing more human than spending time and effort to save dogs scheduled for euthanasia. ARF GSD Rescue knows this the best.

This rescue center saves, fosters, and rehomes all Pistols in need out there.

But, who are Pistols?

It all began in 1999 when the founder of ARF bought a neglected GSD puppy named Pistol. Thanks to their love and nurturing, Pistol recovered and stayed with the founders family. Thats when it hit them all: there are other Pistols out there that need help.

Thus, the eternal goal of ARF was created. So many poor dogs like Pistol needed help, and founding ARF German Shepherd Rescue Lodi came at the right time. So far, the organization has made so many pups lives a whole lot better. And, theyre not planning to stop here.

If, by any chance, you cant take care of your GSD, you can surrender it to ARF. They wont judge, and will be happy to take care of your puppy.

If things are different, then you might even offer a helping hand and adopt some of ARFs German Shepherds. You will do more than a good deed youll make a pups life much happier.
