Garden State German Shepherd Rescue
The members of Garden State German Shepherd Rescue work without a designated shelter and utilize the support of local foster homes to care for and match the right family to the dog. They work to help families understand fostering, assist with transport and verify temperament of the canine to make sure they are placing the rescue in the right home. They communicate with the foster parents as frequently as needed. They provide great donations of food for the foster pets and have went above and beyond to save their dogs and place them in safe locations for care. GSGSR utilizes Westfield Animal Hospital for vaccines and check ups. This is a wonderful team and facility to take your animal to for care. Any funding for this local organization would be put to good use for the animals and their care. GSGSR has matched my family with our family dog. Large Dogs Rescued From Squalid Conditions In Abandoned Mansion In New Jersey
PATERSON, New Jersey — Animal Control rescued 16 German shepherds and three Dobermans from what officials called the dilapidated basement of a once shining mansion in New Jersey Tuesday.
Now, the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge in Oakland has joined forces with Second Chance Pet Adoption League of West Milford to lead the rescue effort.
The dogs were reported to be weak and malnourished, appearing to have been cramped into cages, with multiple large dogs to a cage.
Feces covered the entire house, even the walls, and spots on the floor inside the cages show evidence of dogs digging to escape.
The dogs are a range of ages, from young adults to seniors.
Sadly, the alleged breeder left with at least one puppy.
Several of the dogs are seniors in need of immediate medical care, and working with John DeCando, the city’s chief animal control officer, rescues immediately pulled the dogs and sought help from area rescues.
Additional rescues have since joined the force, and the dogs are going into the loving care of Somerset Regional animal shelter, Randolph animal shelter, and Montclair animal shelter, as well as RBARI and Second Chance.
Rescue is still needed for six of the dogs, and anyone interested in adoption can email adoptlove@rbari.org or complete an application at RBARI.org.
Paterson police have identified the man believed to have been squatting in the foreclosed estate, and he is believed to be a repeat offender.

Garden State German Shepherd Rescue is a foster based rescue relying solely on volunteers opening their homes and their hearts to these unwanted German Shepherd Dogs . Most of our dogs come from other rescues, pounds or shelters and were facing euthanasia due to overcrowding.
Once a GSD enters our program, they receive all necessary medical attention, ranging from updating vaccinations to intensive surgical care, if necessary, and everything in between. We always do what is best for the dog in our care and get them healthy before adopting them out to their new home.
We also provide an owner referral service where GSGSR works with the current owner to provide a new, loving home for their GSD.
